(Her breed is just an educated guess by the vets, we do not dna test our rescue dogs). Penny is expected to be about 15lbs when full grown. Penny was found as a stray in Houston TX. She was understandably a bit shy at the shelter, but once she got out of the shelter and into a foster home, her sweet, silly, friendly personality came right out! (We are working on getting new photos from her foster home!) From Penny's foster: "Penny is SUCH an amazing dog, I can't even put into words how great she is!!! She is so silly, sweet, playful, social, and snuggly. She is great with kids, great with dogs, and even great with cats. (I should note my cat is an orange cat so playful with her but she might be too playful to be with a senior or lazy cat). She would love a dog friend, but does just fine in my house without another dog. But when we meet other dogs she is so friendly and excited to say hello! She gets so much attention when we're out in public and she is so social with everyone she meets. She sits still for baths, nail trims, and is literally perfect. We walked to the creek the other day and she tried to play with the ducks haha! While she is young and playful, she also really knows how to take a break and she is a major snuggler. She is also 99% potty trained! She wasn't when she first came home with me, but she is so smart and picked up on it very fast." We'd like to place Penny in a home where she'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young girl whose self-esteem will fly high while she masters her skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Penny has been fully vetted. She is healthy, up to date on her vaccines, and spayed. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
