Chloe was destined to become a barn cat because the shelter where she was had no resources to hold on to her long enough to socialize her. She was posted on FB by them as a cat that was in in danger of shutting down. She had not eaten, was non receptive and they feared she was dying. We were told about the FB post and we reached out. We learned that she had 5 kittens, 4 of which were adopted by the vet and a 5th one remained but was not with her. The organization had no foster home available and were very worried about her. I asked them if they would give her back her kitten or put the kitten near her in a cage, which they did. I told them we would accept both into our care. Once at Safe Haven in Scaredy Cat School Chloe and her kitten Finley were given a classroom for themselves and we stayed overnight to observe. What a big stress for Chloe, with so much happening to her in the last few days, we weren't sure how she would react to her kitten. By morning Chloe and Finley were inseparable with Finley nursing. Months passed. Chloe has shown her personality to be hesitant still but so happy when she plays with her toys and is hand fed treats. She is gentle and reclusive, watchful, shows a great desire to be a part of what's going on, but can be fearful. We know that she will become the confident, happy and devoted family member once the right adopter arrives who will be willing to adopt her along with her now 15 month old kitten, Finley along with their classmate Bolt who have formed a family that emotionally support one another Chloe is a gorgeous kitty with her fawn, smoke, beige, red, cream, black and white markings. She waits happily for us at the door hoping we'll have time to engage her in treat and play time. She has a presence of peace, devotion and calmness and we know that her fears will be erased by having a home and family to share with Finley and Bolt. We consider her as "special needs" because she needs the right adopter who is willing to give her time and help her build her confidence. We love all three cats and know they're ready for adoption.We can only do so much in Scaredy Cat School, we have brought them to the readiness to be in a real home and real family.
