About Pebbles

🐶 Basics • Pebbles • Age / Size: 10 Weeks / 3lb • Rescued in Texas with his siblings • Not neutered or fully vaccinated yet as he's too young still 💛 Personality Snapshot • Describe in 3–5 words: affectionate, playful, energetic, curious, eager • Energy level (Low / Moderate / High): High • More people‑oriented or independent? People-oriented • How do they handle new situations? Very quiet sometimes get wiggly 🐕 Social & Home Life • How are they with people (adults/kids/new people)? Good, was very wiggly giving lots of kisses to the (many) people holding him at the adoption event. Kids unknown. • How are they with other dogs? Unknown, seemed fine from a distance at adoption event • Cats or other animals (if known)? Unknown. • Behavior when left alone or when guests visit: Whines in crate, learning to self soothe. First time 45 minutes crying before sleep, now about 10! 🎓 Training & Manners • Potty trained? No, but no pee accidents (few poop accidents). I lock him with me in the bathroom for a very boring time until he pees on a pee pad / towel he decided he likes to pee on. • Crate trained? Working on it 😊 • Leash skills: N/A but does fine in a carrier bag, naps on the train • Commands known (if any): Working on “Sit” and “crate” 🌞 Daily Life • Typical day with you: Wake up / pee break / breakfast / play time / pee break / crate time / pee break / play time / pee break / dinner (you see where I’m going with this) • Exercise needs: Standard puppy, good to tire them out with mental and physical stimulation between naps. Loves to play, sometimes doesn’t want to nap. • Favorite activities or toys: Anything is a toy, things he can chew in peace, things he can fetch, or things he finds (like my socks) 🌱 Growth Areas • Anything they’re still working on? Calm time at home outside of forced naps, potty training • What helps them succeed? Consistency, training 🏡 Ideal Home • Only dog / With dog / Either: Either! I actually think because he had 2 littermates he would likely be a great fit for a family looking for another dog rather than a 1st! Also other dogs can help him learn how to play since dogs learn mouth play (and the power of a dog bite) from other dogs • Good fit for apartment living? Yes, he is curious about the noises in the hallway but otherwise doesn’t seem bothered by outside or inside noise. • Best type of household (active, moderate, calm): Moderate? He’s a puppy, so could probably go any which way • What kind of adopter would be the best match? Someone who is clear on the needs of a puppy, the consistency, the frequent potty breaks, the potty training, leash training, etc. Potentially a home with another dog so as he grows he can learn from them as well. 💙 Foster Note He’s been surprisingly great with potty breaks! It’s only been one day, but bringing him into the same space and making it boring helps him to focus and do his business where I want him to, and then I don’t need to worry about him peeing mid-play on my rug. He has a lot of energy, but no more than any other puppy really. He play bites, which may not be great for kids unless a trainer is in place, but it doesn’t hurt it’s puppy mouthiness. Another dog in the home could teach him the strength of his bite and how to play with other dogs and people as he grows. He picked up sit quickly using kibble as a reward, and now we will work on reinforcing it and introducing “crate.” Very open to food-centered training. Also without training, he responds to “nuh-uh” as a call back when he’s doing something I don’t want. He is pretty food motivated, but not aggressive in any way. I can play with his food, take it away and give it back, play with his paws/ears/tail and he doesn’t seem bothered by any of it. The biggest reaction is him trying to turn it into play time. He is funny when enclosed, or when I’m up on the couch. He has already figured out if he claws his way up he can pull himself onto the couch, and then he likes to body slam off the couch into his stuffed bunny like a wrestler. When in his play pen, he figured out how to climb out the top pretty immediately. INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
