About Missy

🐶 Basics Missy, aka Princess Miss, aka Missy Misdemeanor Elliot Age / Size: 2yo, 12lbs Surrendered in Texas after her owner passed away 💛 Personality Snapshot ● Describe in 3–5 words: gentle, calm, sweet, snuggly. ● Energy level (Low / Moderate / High): low to moderate ● More people‑oriented or independent? People oriented (but doesn’t follow you all the time) ● How do they handle new situations? Shy/hesitant but quickly warms up with a little encouragement. Would not describe her as scared or shut down. 🐕 Social & Home Life ● How are they with people (adults/kids/new people)? New people/adults: Shy, but curious! 20-30 min warm up and then happy to cuddle. Kids: Curious and gentle. Has not been exposed to young kids for any more than 5 minutes. ● How are they with other dogs? Gets along with all so far. Sometimes scared of bigger dogs. All intros have been calm with appropriate sniffs, and she backs off if the other dog is uncomfortable. ● Cats or other animals (if known)? Unknown. ● Behavior when left alone or when guests visit: Hasn’t been left alone for more than 10 minutes. Is calm or napping on couch/crate when left. No barking or whining. Good with guests! Prefers to be ignored/gentle intro at first. Sniffs and is comfortable to explore immediately. She warms up to affection from others within 15 minutes. 🎓 Training & Manners ● Potty trained? 80% and learning fast! ● Crate trained? Working on it! She likes her kennel, but cannot stay through the whole night yet. She will whine a little and then settle for several hours. Eventually she does wake up and get more upset and unable to settle later in the night. She does get better every night, but not there yet. ● Leash skills: Great! No pulling, ignores dogs around her, and sometimes says hi to human passersby. She checks in often while walking. She does not like putting her leash/collar on, but once she’s outside she’s easy to walk. Still nervous with loud city sounds and getting used to pottying with no grass. ● Commands known (if any): “Lay down” “No” “Come”. Not food or toy/play motivated so far. Mostly motivated by the relationship. 🌞 Daily Life ● Typical day with you: Breakfast (8a), morning walk, work from home (she’s GREAT - sleeps under my desk all day), afternoon potty, dinner (6p), evening walk, bedtime potty (10p). ● Exercise needs: Low. She’s very content with two short walks and naps most of the day. ● Favorite activities or toys: She has not been interested in toys so far. Burrowing in the blankets and snuggling with humans are her favorite activities. 🏡 Ideal Home ● Only dog / With dog / Either: Either! ● Good fit for apartment living? Yes! Has not barked at all and not scared of apartment sounds. No problem going up the stairs, but cannot go *down* the stairs yet. ● Best type of household (active, moderate, calm): Moderate to calm. ● What kind of adopter would be the best match? Someone who can provide attention/physical affection regularly. She is definitely a companion dog and thrives with human attention. She is overall a really easy going and gentle dog and would benefit from a household that can match that. 💙 Foster Note She is very gentle and sweet. Even with the areas she needs to work on, she has been an easy and adaptable dog. She learns best with practice and routine and gets more confident every day! I could see this dog fitting in with many different types of homes. She loves to watch the birds outside of the window in the morning and nature shows really capture her attention. SO cute! She seems to have a good balance between loving her people and having independence. For example, she will accept and enjoy cuddles at anytime, but she has her favorite apartment nap spots that she goes to on her own. INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
