About King Ludwig Ii

King Ludwig II can be a little unsure in new situations and takes some time to warm up, but once he does, he's a real sweetheart! Staff have been working to make him feel more comfortable with gentle approaches and tasty treats. Once he feels safe, he enjoys gentle petting and will even offer a little zoomie dance to show his excitement! He walks nicely on a leash and appears housetrained. He also takes treats very gently. With a little patience and understanding, King Ludwig II has the potential to blossom into a wonderful companion. VIDEOS: Having Fun with King Ludwig II: https://youtube.com/shorts/JUi5LqS3Kos?feature=share BEHAVIOR: Per staff 3/5: Kennel Presentation: Sitting in the back part of the kennel when I approached with the guillotine closed. His body was pressed against the wall connected to the kennel door. Ears were back with wide eyes. Leash Skills: I opened the door slowly since he was half leaning on it. I slipped the leash on and he slowly came out. Half way walking through the kennel he did a shake off and his tail was mid then began to sway back and forth. Walk with minimal pulling on the leash. He immediately went to the bathroom outside. Sociability: After exploring the pen a bit he came over and allowed all handling. Jumped up gently on me and then got the zoomies around the pen. He had soft eyes, loose body and mid tail wags. Knows it and takes treats gently. Dog Interaction: When going into the pen, Bailey was in the other one. They sniffed through the fence and Bailey started to bark at him. King just walked away. Return to Kennel: Went right into the kennel and unleashed without issue. Color Level: Exp Gold Per walksheet 3/3: No issues (all zeros). Low energy. So sweet. Had fence meet. Was ok. Housetrained. Per staff 3/2: Staff asked if I could move King Ludwig II to his new kennel as he was in the back of the crate low growling. When I approached his crate he was tightly curled up in the corner of the crate with wide eyes, ears back and low growling. I opened the door and tossed a few treats in, he sniffed and ate them however did not come forward for them. I was able to lasso, once the leash was on he gingerly came out of the kennel. His back was hunched, tail down and occasionally tucked while we were walking. Wide eyes darting and ears back. I was able to do some light consent petting, he did not solicit for more. Going back into the kennel I had to step in and turn around for him to go in. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week.
