About Zander
Zander is one of those quiet, sweet dogs who still looks at the world with a bit of uncertainty. Everything—new sounds, new places, even leash walks—can leave him a little unsure. But give him a moment, and his gentle, loving side always floats to the surface. Once Zander opens up, you notice how much he wants to trust and forge a connection. A calm, steady home will suit him best, ideally one with a confident, friendly dog who can help show him how things work. He also has a real soft spot for kids—on a recent sleepover with a volunteer, he lit up around the family’s daughter, happily following her around. Zander’s focus remains on people, but he’s friendly to resident dogs; his favorite thing is simply being included with the family. He isn’t yet house trained but is patient and food motivated. Zander recently tested positive for heartworm, but his treatment costs are fully covered and, once complete, he should bounce back to his happy, healthy self. If you’re the kind of person drawn to gentle souls who just need a little time, Zander might be your match. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
