Meet Buck ACCT-A-244085! Buck was found as a stray on February 28th, and while we don't know much about his past, we've quickly learned what a special boy he is. Since arriving at the shelter, Buck has shown everyone just how sweet, friendly, and affectionate he truly is. He greets people with soft eyes and a happy, wiggly body, always ready to soak up attention and share some love. Buck enjoys spending time with staff and volunteers, happily leaning in for pets and staying close to his people. He has done well in his dog meets at the shelter, showing appropriate and friendly behavior with other dogs. Buck is ready to leave his stray days behind and find a family to call his own. He remained relaxed and allowed me to leash him without any issues. Leash skills: Buck pulls only minimally on leash. He tends to stay close to his handler while walking and enjoys stopping to sniff his surroundings. Sociability: Out in the yard, Buck was relaxed and wiggly, showing a soft body, neutral ears, and a gently wagging mid-level tail. He actively sought out attention, climbing into my lap and leaning in for affection. He was fully tolerant of handling and remained comfortable throughout our interaction. Buck demonstrated that he knows "sit" and even threw in a spontaneous spin at times. He accepted treats politely and with a gentle mouth. Toys and play: no interest in toys or play Dog interactions: fence meet with Oodle. High tail wag, appropriate sniffs through fence. He did some whining and his hackles were slightly raised. Returning to kennel: returning to kennel once at his kennel I had to throw a couple treats in and then he hopped in on his own. Color: experienced gold Per staff 2/28/2026: Taking off evaluate status. Flinchy and tolerant for leashing on truck, walked slowly with low tail, tense body. Compliant. Stepped into kennel and he followed with leash pressure. Took leash off with my hand. Per staff 02/28/2026: APO attempted to leash dog, started growling, used stick, dog was resistant, fought, able to get in van, dog is also scared.
