About Dasani
Meet Dasani ACCT-A-242612! Dasani was brought to the shelter on February 6th after being found roaming on the highway by police. Since arriving, she has shown herself to be a sweet, shy girl who may take a little time to open up. She is estimated to be around four years old. This soft-hearted girl thrives with patience, calm affection, and gentle handling. While she may be reserved at first, once she feels safe, her tail wags, her eyes brighten, and she becomes a wiggly, happy girl. Dasani is looking for an adopter who will give her the time and patience she needs to feel secure and truly flourish in a loving home. She was super sweet and wiggly. Loud noises and quick movements startled her. She met Chimpanzee and was very loose, low wagging tail, playful. She gave play bows and played nicely with him. Sniffed and allowed to be sniffed. Very good girl! Per volunteer 02/07/2026: Kennel presentation: Dasani was laying down in her kennel when I approached. As I opened her kennel door she began to tremble/ shake while lying down. She presented with wide eyes, and a neutral body, and began to lip lick. I dropped a couple treats in which she had no interest in. After a couple tries of attempting to lasso I finally got the leash over her head. Once the leash was on she slowly got up and hopped out of her kennel (still nervous and shaking). Leash skills: once out of her kennel she began to slowly wag her tail giving me small tail wags and her body language got much looser on leash. She seems to be housebroken or trying to stay housebroken. On leash outside she was quite nervous and was heavily exit searching on leash pacing back and fourth (Outside the leash was never dropped). Sociability:Inside, Dasani sought attention and began to display increasingly loose body language, soft eyes, and a small to mid-level tail wag, becoming a bit submissive. Over time, she became more relaxed and allowed all handling. Dasani is handler-oriented, though she did allow gentle handling from other people once she became comfortable. She showed some fearfulness to fast movements so going slow is best. She had no interest in treats but did show off her knowledge of sit. I took her in the photoshoot room for the photoshoot and she was a bit nervous. Tail tucked, lip licking but remained tolerant of handling. Toys and play: no interest Dog interactions: no dog meet Recommendations and considerations: go slow. When leashing be patient and allow her to be comfortable with the leash. If improvement with leashing and coming out of kennel is seen she can be bumped down to blue. Returning to kennel: Returning to kennel I had to take one step in kennel for her to hop in. Tried to throw in treats but she had no interest. Per staff 2/6/26: Very sweet girl, allowed all handling, I wiped her off with a wet cloth and she allowed everything touched. Per finder 2/6/26: Police observed unattended dog on highway. Police then transported the dog to ACCT. Described the dog as being scared. -- ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details.
