About Wilda

Wilda is about five and has the kind of story that sticks with you. DNA tests say she’s a mix of foxhound, beagle, and bluetick, which shows in her smart, sensitive face. A few years ago, animal control trapped her while she was pregnant. She had her puppies less than three days later and, true to her instincts, was overwhelmed by the shelter setting. Luckily, a rescue group scooped up Wilda and her tiny pups, giving them a shot at real comfort. She came to rescue as a semi-feral dog and took her time opening up. Kennel life wasn’t helpful, but foster care worked wonders. She’s house and crate trained, still learning how to play, still figuring people out, and will need someone patient enough to let her set the pace. Wilda is a gentle, generally submissive soul who feels safest in a home with at least one other dog; it’s required for her adoption. She’s friendly with cats, tolerates children, but does better where things stay more on the calm side. Wilda’s energy level sits in the middle—neither wild nor sluggish. She’s currently undergoing heartworm treatment, which has no cost to her future family. She’s spayed and up to date on all vaccines. She’s available throughout the US and Canada, with transport included if needed. Wilda’s currently in Chesapeake, VA, and, true to her Cancer sun sign, she finds comfort in secure surroundings and loyal companions. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!

Questions about Wilda

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Dogs like Wilda, with her foxhound and beagle heritage, are often happiest in a home that provides security, structure, and companionship—both human and canine. A quiet household with a fenced yard suits her best, especially since she needs other dogs around.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Wilda’s mix generally benefits from a good amount of outdoor space, though daily walks and a medium backyard are usually enough for her. Having a secure, enclosed area allows her to explore and play safely with her dog companions.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Her breed types do well with respectful, calm children. Wilda herself is gentle but may be uneasy around loud or high-energy kids, so a home with older or quieter children is ideal.
