About Meeska
Meeska is a six-month-old Australian Kelpie and Australian Shepherd mix with a gentle, sensitive nature. She came from a California shelter with her littermates and didn’t get much early socialization, so the world still feels pretty new and intimidating to her. She’s very shy and still learning that people and daily life are safe, so she’ll need a patient adopter who understands how slow progress looks in fearful puppies. Meeska isn’t comfortable being touched just yet, but she’s making steady progress—she’ll enjoy treats, play with toys, and has started to relax enough to play with her foster dog siblings, wagging her tail when she feels secure. Meeska gets a lot of confidence from other dogs, and needs a friendly, confident canine mentor in her new home. She might be wary and growl when first meeting unfamiliar dogs, but she adjusts once she feels safe and can do well with calm companions. She’s also learned to coexist with a cat after a careful intro. The outside world and loud noises can make her nervous, but she’s started joining her foster dogs outside. For now, she’s using potty pads and working on house training with consistency. She’ll thrive in a quiet, low-traffic home with someone who will celebrate and notice the little victories. Routine and patience will go a long way for Meeska, and in return, she has potential to bond deeply with her person. If you’re ready to give a special dog the time and support she needs, Meeska’s waiting in Bend, OR. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.

Questions about Meeska
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Meeska, being an Australian Kelpie and Australian Shepherd mix, usually does best in calm homes with a steady routine. She especially needs a quiet, patient environment where she can build trust at her own pace.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
As a mix of active herding breeds, Meeska will benefit from access to a secure yard or regular walks, but right now she relies on feeling safe following other dogs outside. A gentle introduction to outdoor time is ideal.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Australian Kelpie and Shepherd mixes can do well with kind, respectful children, but Meeska’s current shyness and need for a quiet environment mean she’d be best in a home without young kids.
