Shyla is the kind of dog who makes you feel chosen. At three years old and around 70 pounds, this sweet, spayed pit bull mix has a heart that’s somehow even bigger than her love for cuddling. Shyla is a certified lap dog who believes there is no such thing as “too close.” If you sit down, she will happily climb right into your lap and stay there as long as you’ll allow. We learned about Shyla through one of our longtime volunteers, and once we heard her story, we knew we had to help. When Shyla was just six months old, her family moved out of state and left her with a friend, believing it would be temporary. Unfortunately, that temporary stay became permanent, and Shyla now needs a stable home where she can finally land and feel secure. Shyla has clearly been loved. She is incredibly gentle, affectionate, and deeply people-oriented. She does wonderfully with kids, gets along well with other dogs, and is truly a joy to be around. She thrives on companionship and wants nothing more than to be included in daily life, whether that’s lounging on the couch, soaking up attention, or following her people from room to room. Shyla is not a good fit for a home with cats, as fast and unpredictable movement can be overstimulating for her. Aside from that, she is an easy, loving dog who brings warmth and comfort wherever she goes. Shyla is looking for a foster home where she can finally exhale—one without cats, but full of affection, stability, and people who don’t mind being covered in dog cuddles. She has so much love to give and is ready to share it with someone who will make her feel truly home. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home.
