Thank you!** Meet Cosmo - an adorable, 17 month old (as of 12/25), Shepherd / Hound mix, who weighed approx. 45 pounds (as of 10/5/25) Cosmo was round running around a rural country road with his 3 brothers. No one every came forward to claim this handsome guy, so we're here to help him find his forever family! If you’re looking for the perfect family dog, look no further—I’m your guy! I’ve had a rough start in life. As a young pup, I was sadly dumped in a ditch with my brothers, but I haven’t let that define me. Since then, I’ve thrived in two different foster homes, learning valuable life skills along the way. In one foster home, I lived without a yard, enjoyed daily leash walks, cuddled on the furniture, and happily played with kids. I also lived with cats—but I’ll admit, it was very tempting to chase them when my foster family wasn’t looking. In my second foster home, I live on a farm with a fenced yard, use a doggie door, and play with dogs of all sizes. I absolutely love playing in a muddy water hole or splashing around in my kiddie pool. Thanks to these experiences, I’m adaptable and well-rounded—and personally, I think I’m the most handsome pup around! I jump right into the car and am always ready for an adventure. Spend a little time petting me—or even just looking my way—and you’ll be rewarded with endless kisses. I’m a true love bug. My favorite treats are raw carrots, and I enjoy any toy, especially ones I can enthusiastically de-stuff or squeak. I am neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations—all I need now is my forever family. All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be. To adopt or learn more about Cosmo, you must fill out an adoption application. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works. Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
