About Stumpy Spunky

This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally. **Please read Stumpy Spunky's entire profile, which includes a link to the adoption application at the end. Thank you!** Meet Stumpy Spunky, a 13-week-old Shepherd mix, weighing 12 pounds (as of 3/5/26). Stumpy was found on the side of a back country road in Tennessee with his sister, Harbor. These pups deserve to have a life full of love and affection. They can't wait to find their fur-ever homes! Stumpy has overcome so much in his young life. When he and his sister were found, they were covered in mange so bad, they couldn't even walk without unbearable itching. Since then, they've been treated and healed (though he does have some hair loss from the mange). But that's why their last name is Spunky. Because despite his circumstances, this boy never gave up! And neither should you! So if you need an accountability dog to help you with the New Year's resolutions you already gave up on, Stumpy will tell you to keep going! You got this! Stumpy is such a sweet, fun, and spirited little pup who loves to play, especially with the adult dogs that he's fostered with. He also enjoys being around kids and will playfully chase the outdoor barn cats at his foster's so hopefully the cats you know like playing tag! During the day, Stumpy plays in his play pen and at night, he works on his list of goals so that he can be the best family member he can be. His goals include: leashing, crates, and potty training and he hopes you can help him accomplish them just like he helped you delete your ex's number! The Spunky pups deserve the best home that will cherish and love them as they should have been since birth! Adopt Stumpy today! All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
