Things we can tell about this stout little adorable, senior terrier. We believe him to be approximately 8-9 years old, though this is a best guess. He was someone's dog before. Someone that he had a bond with. Despite the fact he clearly missed his person, he likes people and is open to new human friends. Hoke offers up his sweet signature swag tail wag everytime he sees us. He picks up on routines quickly, likes to be picked up and has a lovely way of resting on your arm that says he has done miles in someone’s arms. He wanders around by himself outside without issue and enjoys sniffing along throughout his exploration. He knows to go potty if you ask, which again points to he had a human. He has a calm, and serious personality. You can feel he still misses someone or someplace in a subtle way. He is not playful in the bouncy sense but loves his jaunty wandering outings. However, he's a typical terrier with other dogs and has no clue he's small. We have had him meet a few other dogs now, and while he is nervous of large dogs, he doesn’t seem to pay much attention to little dogs, so long as they don’t bother him. He is a typical terrier however and with a barrier between them, or if a dog is too much, he will say something. He'd be happy to be great BFF, and only dog, or share his home with another kind and calm, smallish sized dog. Super clean in his room and not destructive. He loves his tub bed and blankets. What we know is he deserved to live. He had someone that loved him back in time before that life lost him. He quietly carries his loss of home and loved ones but clearly will love again given the chance. Now we need to find his new partner and forever home. Most of our dogs require a fenced yard. We seek fully fenced yards with a physical, visible fence. Typically, the fence must be connected to the house/ a door in the home, and the dog safe fenced area must exclude driveway and car access. Shock/electronic fences will not be approved for most dogs. A sturdy, high quality crate is also required (due to safety concerns, no wire or soft crates will be accepted. Impact, Ruffland, 4 point contact locking door Skyline, Zinger Winger, etc type crate). We will be considering homes in W. Wa and possibly Oregon, no other out of state adoptions at this time.
