About Saxon

Click apply to start the adoption process. Saxon is a resilient and affectionate 9-year-old terrier mix with a big heart and a story of incredible perseverance. He started life with hardship, having been found abandoned and in need of love, but with the help of caring people he has come out the other side with a happy spirit and a ready smile. Saxon thrives in the company of his foster parents, following them around, snuggling, and frequently handing out kisses — especially when he’s especially happy, when he performs his delightful helicopter tail wag. While plush toys and chasing balls are his favorites, he’s still figuring out the rules of fetch, often preferring to keep his favorite toy close by. His teddy bear and plush elephant bring him comfort every day. Currently, Saxon is working on resource guarding but shows no aggression. A simple, hands-off approach or distraction with a treat helps manage his protectiveness over toys or his people. He is very treat-motivated and has completed professional board-and-train, making him an eager student for continued training. His adopter must commit to ongoing sessions to help his transition. Saxon is house-trained, has a calm demeanor, and favors lounging to high activity. He coexists peacefully with calm dogs but isn’t seeking new canine friendships. Patient, dog-savvy adults provide the best environment for him, as he appreciates slower introductions and respectful handling due to his initial discomfort with extensive handling. His wish list includes a calm home with no children, continued training, daily walks, and someone ready to offer patience and understanding. A yard is great but not essential—what matters most is being near his people. Saxon will repay your love with steadfast loyalty and warm companionship. Ready to fall in love?
