Her journey hasn’t been simple—she first arrived in the DC area as a tiny puppy from Texas and was adopted right away, only to be returned when she grew bigger than her first family expected. Since then, she’s bounced through fosters and boarding, narrowly escaping euthanasia thanks to a determined advocate. Now five and a half, Rye is as clever as she is spirited. Rye’s quick mind is both her best trait and her biggest challenge; daily enrichment—puzzle toys, long walks, even people-watching—keeps her happiest.
