AvailableAbout Shuggie Jj Indianapolis
Shuggie Jj Indianapolis is a large, eight-year-old, neutered male Catahoula mix—Catahoula dad, blue heeler mom—living in Roundup, MT. He’s fully vaccinated and on heartworm prevention. He’s house trained, only ever having had a couple of minor accidents tied directly to food as a trigger. He eats Diamond Naturals skin and coat formula and needs a slow feeder because he’ll otherwise gobble his meals. All his favorite toys and supplies come along with him. He’s a high white, double merle, which brings some vision and likely minimal hearing impairments, plus heightened sensitivity to contact allergies, though he hasn’t struggled with flare-ups in the past year. He’s been Ehrlichia-positive in the past (not active) and occasionally gets minor yeast issues in his ears—easily managed under vet advice. While he’s loyal and deeply bonded with his people, he needs slow introductions to new folks and is at his best meeting one-on-one, not among crowds. No children, cats, or small/toy dogs for Shuggie; he can coexist with certain medium-sized dogs if managed properly, but not with resource guarding or dominant personalities. He prefers staying near his person, enjoys water (even wears a life jacket), and can be leash reactive at random. He learns quickly, knows some agility, and takes well to hand signals. Grooming is easy—he tolerates nail trims, ear cleaning, and light brushing, rarely ever needing a bath. Two bite incidents happened when strangers encroached unsafely on his territory; otherwise, Shuggie is protective but not aggressive. He’s crate-trained, vocal (known to sing along to sirens), and affectionate with the people he trusts. He prefers a quieter home—no parties, no toddlers, no crowds—and an owner who reads canine behavior and can offer confident, experienced handling. He’s heartbroken to lose his person, but deeply capable of loving again. Click apply to start the adoption process.
