About Helen

Happy Holidays! Winter came early this year & so did the cold & snow. We desperately need to make room to get even MORE Moms, kittens and other cats in from the freezing temps & get them fixed, so they don't have to suffer. We get multiple calls for help everyday but can only help more when more we have get homes. Please consider adopting! And tell your friend to adopt too! Our adoption rates have been down so we are hoping everyone wants to give a kitty a home this year! We still have lots of kittens & some of our older cats are hoping for a Christmas miracle...a home! Remember, adopting saves TWO lives! Adopting one cat will free up a cage so we can help another. Together we can provide a wonderful holiday season for cats & kittens by getting them homes!! The kitties thank you too! This is Helen! Helen is a domestic short haired grey tabby, spayed female, up to date on her shots, almost 1 year old and available for adoption to be an indoor ONLY cat from Treasured Friends Rescue in Highland IN. Hi there, I'm Helen! I'm a petite little girl who was trying to survive outside in the wet and cold. It wasn't easy but then on top that, I'm blind (or partially blind?)! I was still just a kitten trying to survive, which is hard enough! I tried really hard to find food, but it's hard to find food when you can't see. Honestly, it's hard to do a lot of things when you're outside, but even harder when you don't know what's around you. Lucky, I hit the kitty lottery! Someone decided to help me! They started giving me food!! This nice person noticed I was struggling outside and helped me get to the shelter. I've been here awhile and love being inside, but I REALLY want my own home and someone (or a family) to love me too! Im still a kitten, but I want to catch up on all the play time I lost out on because I was outside just trying to survive I have so much love to give to someone and I could use a little love myself. I might need a little patience and time to get used to a new home, but I think I might feel right at home with the right family or person. I'm at the shelter, so please come by to see me! I like other gentle kitties (after I get used to their smell), so a home with another kitty (with the proper introduction) would be great! However, probably NO dogs and maybe only older kids. I hope you might consider me to be your new kitty! I hope you make an appointment to come and see me at the shelter and maybe become your best friend! Please call 219-922-1766 and leave a message to set up a meet and greet with Helen! Helen has been to the vet. The vet said she was born with " micro eyes" which means he eye ball isn't fully formed or very small. We think she might be able to see something as she reacts to things, however we aren't completely sure. She is a wonderful and loving kitty, however she gets a little stressed in new environments and will get a scared and a little hissy. Once she is familiar with her surroundings she feels more relaxed and loves pets. She will need a small small to get used to her new home at first before she is introduced to the whole house. If you want to come visit her, we can tell you more about her condition and give you some tips to help her in her new home. Also, please fill out an adoption application that can be found online at TreasuredFriendsRescue.org or follow the link from our profile at Petfinder (scroll down to the bottom of our homepage on Petfinder for the link) **************************************** Griffith Animal Control, in partnership with Treasured Friends Animal Rescue believes in giving kitties that others wouldn't give a chance, a helping hand at getting a forever home. Our volunteers work with shy and/or unsocialized kitties everyday to gain their trust to show them they are safe and no one will hurt them. However, when the kitties go to a new home, some will require extra time to get used to new surroundings and different people. Please consider giving a kittie who might need a little time to get used to a new home, a chance. This is a serious commitment and it sets the kitties back in their level of trust if they are given up after a few weeks or months. We are always here to help with any questions Please, only apply if you are an experienced cat owner or are willing to provide patience and good forever home. Thank you!
