Rocky is a senior boy who has been showing mixed but improving behaviors in the shelter environment. When approached in his kennel, he has at times presented as fearful, retreating or showing stress signals. Despite this, he is easily handled for leashing and unleashing and follows the handler willingly when exiting or returning to his kennel. Once outside, Rocky shows neutral to aloof sociability, choosing to explore his surroundings more than actively seeking interaction at first. However, as he warms up, his body language softens, and he displays loose, friendly behavior—including approaching for attention and leaning in for pets. He maintains a moderate energy level, enjoying steady activity while still settling easily. Rocky is very vocal, and while he may pull a little on the leash, he ultimately follows nicely and remains manageable. Volunteer Notes: Rocky is very friendly once he’s out of the kennel. He is always happy to see volunteers, calm, easygoing, and easy to handle. He kept a steady, comfortable pace on his walk and has great energy for a senior. Volunteers describe him as a dog they "really like!" We recommend following the 3-3-3 guideline when helping Rocky settle in: 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn the routine, and 3 months to feel fully at home.
