About Zinnia

Zinnia is a 3½ year old, 75-pound Great Pyrenees mix with a soft heart and gentle manners. Zinnia and her sister were left tied up and abandoned, but somehow Zinnia emerged from that experience calm, affectionate, and quietly watchful. She is reserved and approaches the world thoughtfully. She does not love life out loud and prefers a low key environment. A quieter home would suit her best, and kids over 10 who understand personal space would be ideal. She does well with other dogs and especially appreciates the polite ones who understand that jumping on her without an invitation is not acceptable behavior. Cats are also welcome in Zinnia’s world, especially since cats are not known for reckless enthusiasm, and she respects that about them. Zinnia is looking for a home with a securely fenced yard, a person or two to hang out with, and a dependable supply of cookies and petting. She is affectionate in a low key, meaningful way, the kind of dog who wants to be near you rather than on top of you. That said, do not be fooled by her current “quiet and shy” persona. Once Zinnia feels safe and settled, I fully expect the curtain to lift and her true personality to make an appearance. For now, we're going with quiet and reserved, but I truly hope she finds that inner puppy and starts running in circles in a backyard.
