About Rambo & Nonna

Rambo & Nonna [Seeking a Foster or Foster-to-Adopt Home Together] Rambo: 1 year old | 9 lbs Nonna: 6 years old | 10 lbs Rambo and Nonna came to Waggytail Rescue after their beloved owner sadly passed away. As far as we know, they have lived together their entire lives, and we suspect they may be mother and son. While they are not equally bonded, Rambo is attached to Nonna and becomes unsettled when she is not with him, while Nonna is more independent. Because of this dynamic—and given the enormous life change they've experienced—our strong preference is for them to remain together, and at this time we are only considering foster or foster-to-adopt homes willing to welcome both dogs. Rambo could fly away with those ears! He is a sensitive, gentle soul who thrives on affection once he feels safe. He can be shy when meeting new people, but treats quickly help him warm up. Rambo truly enjoys human companionship and does best with patience, reassurance, and consistency. Nonna is a sweet, steady presence and a wonderful emotional anchor for Rambo. She is more confident and adaptable, quietly taking everything in stride while providing comfort to her younger companion. Together, they balance one another beautifully. Due to being unfixed, they are currently sleeping separately. We are specifically seeking a foster or foster-to-adopt home, ideally with the intention to adopt, as both pups have upcoming medical appointments and will need stability, patience, and follow-through during this process. Both Rambo and Nonna are scheduled for their spay and neuter on January 26th at the ASPCA in Long Island City. This appointment is extremely important, and any foster or foster-to-adopt must be willing to transport them there. Rambo has bilateral cherry eyes and grade 2 luxating patellas in both knees, neither of which currently require surgical intervention. His cherry eyes may be managed conservatively or may eventually require surgical repair depending on veterinary recommendations. Nonna has moderate dental disease, including a crown fracture, and bilateral grade 3 luxating patellas. While her knees do not require immediate surgery, they will need ongoing monitoring and management. After her spay, Nonna will also require a dental procedure. What Rambo and Nonna need most right now is a calm, patient home with friendly dogs and a compassionate human who understands that this is a journey—one that will require time, structure, and empathy, but will be incredibly rewarding. If you're able to foster, foster-to-adopt, or are interested in opening your home to both of them, please reach out. Keeping them together during this transition would mean everything to them. To apply for Rambo & Nonna, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org
