About Zero
Zero is a 5-year-old, 20-pound male chihuahua mix from Tijuana! Zero is a playful, affectionate and curious pup. He has adjusted very well so far during his time in Jersey City. Zero enjoys playing fetch, snuggling up on your lap, and going on long sniff walks. Zero is a tripod. He was found with an injury that ultimately led to his right hind leg being amputated, but he doesn't let it stop him! Zero is a smart pup who already knows “no” and “come here”. During his time with his foster family, Zero has been working on housetraining. He primarily uses pee pads and occasionally misses slightly as he adjusts to navigating with three legs, but he has already stopped marking inside the house and understands that it's not allowed. He is also doing well going outside to do his business and continuing to build a consistent routine. Zero is fantastic on a leash and walks right by your side, making strolls together easy and enjoyable. Zero has been doing well in his crate during the day. He initially howled a bit due to some separation anxiety, but he has made great progress and settles much more easily now—especially after playtime or activities that help him burn off energy and feel mentally tired. His forever family will need to continue working with Zero to reinforce and advance the progress he's been making. He loves to be cozy with his foster family and can often be found with his favorite chilli toy. Zero is looking for a moderately active family. He appreciates downtime and active moments. Zero is happy as either a solo dog or with another dog in the home. He doesn't show a strong preference and adapts well to different environments. We believe Zero could do well in a home with children who are gentle and respectful with dogs. Vaccinated for Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella. Neutered and microchipped. Tested for vector-borne illnesses. Current on flea, tick, and heart worm prevention.
