Hi! My name is Tulip and I am available for adoption. I am considered a small breed dog who weighs 12.0 lbs. I am an older girl looking to live out the rest of my life in a calm, cozy home. I can be quite independent and I like to do my own thing but once you win me over with treats I really enjoy some shoulder scratches! I am a gentle and loving dog who likes to take things slow. I may get nervous in new situations, so I am looking for a family who understands that I might take some time to warm up. Once I get to know you, I will be a very devoted friend! I'm currently in a foster home, please fill out a foster interest form for the chance to meet me! To find that form click the read about our adoption process link then foster path link! Although your new pet is ready for adoption, there is always a possibility of additional medical conditions that have not been detected or may develop in the future. Current medical conditions are noted below. 1. Dental disease: There is moderate-severe tartar. We highly suspect extractions will be necessary. We recommend following up with your veterinarian to discuss the procedure and expected costs. 2. Heart murmur: A heart murmur tells us there is an abnormal sound, but does not tell us specifically what may be causing it. In small breed senior dogs the most common disease is a leaky valve. The dog is currently not displaying overt signs of congestive heart failure (CHF), however we cannot predict when intervention may be needed, nor the life expectancy. Your veterinarian may recommend x-rays and/or echocardiogram with a specialist to better assess this pet's heart health, and whether medications are indicated. 3. Small skin mass right side of face: This has not been sampled. You veterinarian may recommend sampling or removal depending on how the mass behaves. 4. This pet is suspected of having arthritis in one or more joints. They were started on the anti-inflammatory pain reliever Meloxicam (an NSAID). Your veterinarian may recommend additional therapies or diagnosics to best manage this pet's comfort. 5. Bloodwork was performed and this pet has a mild-moderate elevation in one liver enzyme, ALP, which can be from a large variety of causes. Some of these are essentially benign (secondary to dental disease, or from normal aging changes), while others can be more significant and affect the pet's life. Your veterinarian may recommend medications or diagnostics to better assess this pet.
