About Chauncy

Chauncy is a 1-year-old, 12 lb Terrier mix who landed at the rescue after being found as a stray from an overcrowded shelter. He’s a sensitive, gentle soul slowly learning the world isn’t so scary. At first, Chauncy is reserved and unsure—strangers and new situations can overwhelm him—but give him time and some quiet space, and he’ll surprise you with his affection. Once he bonds, he wants nothing more than to curl up in your lap and soak up your love. Leash walks and outdoor adventures are still new to him, so he’ll need adopters who have experience with shy dogs and can offer lots of patience, predictability, and gentle reassurance. Chauncy’s ideal home is calm and quiet, ideally outside the pounding pace of the city. Because of his nervous nature, he’s looking for an adult-only home with no children. He gets along well with other dogs and would do well with a mellow, confident canine companion to help him continue coming out of his shell. Chauncy is up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. If you’re ready to offer a safe place and slow introduction to the world, Chauncy just might be your deeply loyal new friend. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
