Meet Abu! Abu is a delightful blend of adventure and affection, wrapped in a handsome 35-pound package. At 6 years old, this boy is full of life and enjoys chasing tennis balls, exploring trails, and beach outings with his favorite people. After those fun-filled days, he loves to snuggle up under blankets and share his company, showing just how much he values time spent with his humans. Originally from Sayulita, Mexico, Abu has an impressive mix of breeds in his DNA. He's part American Staffordshire Terrier, Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherd, and Australian Cattle Dog, among others. This athletic, intelligent, and playful guy thrives on mental stimulation and enjoys training sessions with treats, toys, and praise. He’s house-trained and can handle being home alone for several hours without any destructive behavior. Abu is generally great with commands and walks nicely on a leash, but he does prefer some distance around unfamiliar dogs and wildlife. He's lived harmoniously with an older female dog and could do well with a compatible canine companion. However, potential adopters should note he does best in a home without young children, as he can be sensitive to fast movements. An exciting home for Abu would be one that can provide him with the exercise, structure, and gentle guidance he needs. He has a patient personality and adapts well, especially when given time to adjust to new environments. Though he has epilepsy, it’s well managed with medication. His diet also requires careful attention due to sensitivities. Abu's family must find a new home for him, recognizing their current lifestyle can't meet his needs as they grow.
