Meet Jake! This charming boy is around 9-10 years old and is a basset hound/English pointer mix who came to rescue with his sister Jane after their elderly owner moved overseas. Jake has some delightful quirks: he’s an excellent kisser, loves to wander in the backyard, and firmly believes breakfast must be served on time. He gets along well with other dogs and is both potty trained and kennel trained. He's even trusted to free roam with his canine pals when his foster mom is away. This handsome fellow enjoys car rides and recently indulged in what might have been his first 'pup cup' after a vet visit. Although Jake was told he needs to shed a few pounds, he wasn’t too thrilled about the news. Now, he’s on a diet that includes a few green beans, which he humorously considers an insult—he's been known to sit on them rather than eat them! Jake has glaucoma, which is managed well with eye drops. Regular eye-pressure checks are part of his new routine to maintain his health. Stairs can be a challenge for him at his current size, yet he manages fine if they’re carpeted. With a little weight loss and improved fitness, this senior gentleman is bound to feel sprighter. He enjoys short walks and loves backyard adventures. Though he’s good with children, he prefers a calm canine companion rather than a high-energy partner.
