Kirby is a gorgeous, 15-to-16-month-old female Black Lab mix weighing 51 pounds. She has all the looks of a purebred Lab (though without knowing her dad, we can’t say for sure!). In the photos, she’s the sweet girl wearing the bright orange collar—the smallest of her three sisters. Kirby (and 3 of her sisters) came to us from a situation where they received basic food and water, but very little socialization. As a result, she is very shy at first, and she tends to warms up to women much faster. Kirby truly has a heart full of love, that typical lab sweetness. She absolutely adores gentle pets, soft-spoken praise, and tasty treats, and she actively seeks out affection once she knows she is safe. When frightened in a new environment, Kirby has proven she is agile enough to jump a 6-foot fence. However, she currently lives in a foster home with a 4-foot fence where she feels secure and hasn't made any attempts to jump with foster mom. Because of her initial nervousness, her ideal adopter must be willing to spend time building trust and keeping her on a leash—even inside a fenced yard—until she feels completely comfortable and settled in her new home. Friends & Companionship Kirby really shines around other pets. She loves all dogs, gets along great with cats, and gains wonderful confidence from canine companions. Up to date on all vaccinations Spayed Heartworm negative & on monthly preventatives Kirby is ready for a patient, loving home where she can continue to blossom. Could that home be yours?
