About Mike
Meet Mike, a little guy with a big journey behind him and a whole new world waiting ahead. This approximately 2-year-old mixed breed weighs around 20 pounds and is one of a small group of once-stray dogs rescued from the streets of Bakersfield, California, by the Jason Heigl Foundation in Oakley, Utah. Initially, Mike found the world frightening and had trouble trusting people. With time, patience, and a safe environment, he is learning that gentle hands can bring good things, that treats are wonderful, and that life with caring humans might just be worth believing in. Mike thrives with four-legged friends and does well with other small dogs in our kennels. His favorite spots include the play yard, where he stretches his legs and enjoys being a dog, and getting out for leashed walks. Though Mike hasn't lived in a home yet, he is crate trained and soaks up the comfort of his safe space. Future adopters should provide him with a secure environment and help him learn everyday routines, including potty habits, since adjusting to home life will take time. What Mike needs most is a person who sees beyond his initial shyness. He may not rush to you on day one, but earning his trust will make every milestone even more rewarding. A dedicated foster-to-forever home or an adopter with a gentle small-dog companion could help Mike comfortably discover the joys of home. With patient guidance, predictable routines, and plenty of treats, this deserving boy has every opportunity to gain confidence and show you his true self. Mike deserves someone who will believe in him and give him the time he needs to shine. He is available to adopt in Utah. Give him the home he has been waiting for. Apply today!
