About Wishbone
Wishbone is a small Chihuahua mix with the kind of eyes that tell you she's lived through more than her share. She came here from the Devore Shelter alongside Pretty Girl, both survivors of a tough hoarding situation. When she first arrived, Wishbone was afraid, quick to defend herself, and needed our team to suit up in bite gloves just to approach — not out of malice, but because she didn’t know any other way to be safe. Still, under that wary shell, she's always been a dog who wants connection. She wants to be petted and comforted, to know security and gentle routine. With time, Wishbone has learned to trust a bit. Out in the yard, she mixes well with other dogs, even lets herself have fun sometimes. With people, she’s much more reserved. Building trust with her isn’t quick, but her progress is real: now she’ll crate herself at meal times, and she takes comfort in gentle, predictable routines. She’s still new to leashes, so a secure yard is a must while she gets the hang of it. Wishbone needs an adult-only home that’s quiet and steady. She’ll do best if she can watch and learn from a calm, confident dog. Her greatest wish isn’t complicated — just someone patient and kind, who’ll meet her where she is and walk alongside her into better days. For the astrology-minded, Wishbone is a true Capricorn — loyal, cautious, and with more determination than you’d expect from such a small dog. Click apply to start the adoption process.
