About Benny

Meet Benny! This handsome 2-year-old, 75-pound Golden Retriever has a sweet disposition and a heart full of love. Surrendered due to his family’s medical challenges, Benny is now looking for a patient and understanding family to help him feel secure and loved for a lifetime. Unlike many Golden Retrievers known for their outgoing nature, Benny prefers familiar surroundings and has had limited exposure to busy environments. Loud noises can startle him, as he is more submissive and tends to retreat from frightening situations rather than confront them. Once comfortable, he shines with a fun-loving personality. He enjoys playing with toys, romping around with other energetic dogs, and displaying his occasional zoomies! Being a big boy, Benny requires an active household ready to handle his excitement. He is already house trained and crate trained, which provides a solid foundation for settling into a new home. Ideally, Benny would thrive in a home with older, dog-savvy children who can respect his boundaries and give him the time he needs to adjust. He has cohabitated well with cats in his foster home. A securely fenced yard is essential for Benny, preferably with a privacy fence. Due to his sensitivity to unfamiliar sights and sounds, he can become a flight risk if startled. A tether or an invisible fence won't suffice; his safety is the priority. While many may desire a Golden Retriever, Benny is not suited for first-time dog owners or families seeking a social, bustling companion. He needs a predictable routine and understanding people who recognize that building his confidence will take time. With love and patience, Benny has much to offer. If you provide the secure environment, experience, and time required for this handsome fella, Benny could be the missing piece your family needs! Click apply to start the adoption process.
