About Ernie

Ernie's journey began when he was picked up off the streets while his owner was volunteering at a spay/neuter clinic in Shiprock. This little guy, believed to be a terrier-Dachshund mix, has spent the last year and a half in a loving home, where he enjoys the company of smaller dogs but is not so fond of larger ones. He can be a bit of a troublemaker, especially when it comes to escaping to chase after chickens; this has caused some disagreements with the neighbors. Although Ernie can be reactive to young children, particularly those who don’t understand how to treat pets, he thrives on cuddles and loves to sleep next to his mom. He’s fully vetted, neutered, and house-trained, skilled at using a doggy door. Living in Cortez, Colorado, he’s looking for a new home where he can shine without the stress of toddlers or bigger dogs. Your new best friend, Ernie, is waiting for you. What are you waiting for?
