Josie is a 3-year-old purebred German Shepherd, registered with the AKC and currently located in Cortez, CO. She’s got a big heart and a gentle soul when it comes to people—rarely missing a chance to cuddle or greet you with a burst of energetic jumping. At about 85 lbs, she’s strong and affectionate, happiest when close to her humans. Josie’s left eye was removed due to early trauma, but she navigates life just fine with one eye and hasn’t let that hold her back. She does have her quirks—Josie can be unpredictable with other dogs, sometimes playing nicely, and other times getting rough and not letting go. She isn’t reliable on leash yet—she’s pulled her owner over more than once, reacting with powerful lunges. Her current situation has made consistent training difficult, and she hasn’t responded to head harnesses, flat collars, choke chains, shock collars, or pinch collars long term. What Josie really needs is a confident, experienced handler dedicated to positive, consistent reinforcement and plenty of daily exercise—traits best found in an able-bodied adopter who enjoys training. She’s house trained, vaccinated, spayed, and ready for the right person willing to be patient and put in the work.
