About Benson

Meet Benson! A gentle five-year-old mixed breed currently in Amherst, MA. His lineage includes American Pitbull Terrier, German Shepherd, Chow Chow, and other breeds. Benson's soft cream coat and soulful eyes reveal a loyal, sensitive soul with a thoughtful charm. Weighing 75 pounds, this large companion blends the affectionate nature of a retriever with the intelligence of his unique mix. Benson thrives on companionship, happiest when close to his people—whether joining car rides, lounging by the window, or snuggling in during quiet evenings. Calm and low-energy, he enjoys napping at your side or relaxing while you go about your day without demanding constant activity. With impressive commands like "sit," "stay," and "leave it," he connects beautifully, making him a joy for someone who appreciates a learning dog. His low-key pastimes include enrichment games, swimming, and chasing sturdy balls. Though he takes time to warm up to new people, once connected, he is devoted, loving, and attentive, showcasing impeccable house manners. Benson thrives in a calm, structured environment with a securely fenced yard—at least six feet tall—as he has been known to jump fences. While adapting to a new home, keeping him on leash around doorways helps him bond safely. He's selective with other dogs and can be reactive, thus thriving as the only dog in a home or with careful gradual introductions to other dogs. Not compatible with cats, he needs an adult-only environment where his sensitive nature can shine. If you value a loyal, emotionally attuned companion ready to stand by your side through life's ups and downs, Benson might be the heartfelt connection you've been searching for.
