Meet Blanquita, a charming 6-year-old terrier/Chihuahua mix weighing in at 16 lbs. After coming to us from Texas, Blanquita had to undergo an amputation of her severely deformed right leg and paw, but she’s proving that losing a leg doesn’t stop her from enjoying life. As a tripod, she’s adapted beautifully, chasing after her canine companions and keeping an eye on those elusive squirrels. Blanquita loves soaking up the sun, following her dog friends, and showering her human companions with kisses. She's a semi-low-energy dog who enjoys quiet moments and would be quite content snuggling in your lap. Living harmoniously with larger dogs, she even enjoyed the company of a puppy during her travel to us. Amusingly, she doesn’t partake much in barking at passersby, choosing instead to be the calm one in the group. While she is curious and friendly with the cats in her foster home, they are less enamored with her and often prefer to run away. Blanquita is sweet but may initially be timid around new people, so a household with small children might not be the best match for her. With her gentle nature, she blossoms into an affectionate companion once she feels safe. Stairs are tricky for her, so a home with primarily one level would be ideal. Nevertheless, she is potty and crate trained, making her a manageable addition to a loving household. Blanquita dreams of a cozy home where sunshine, regular meals, and loving humans abound.
