Some girls dream of Paris. I dream of a soft couch, a steady, loving hand, and a four-legged best friend to share life’s adventures. I’m Simba, a sweet 32-pound Cocker Spaniel girl, nearly 4 years old, embodying a gentle spirit that wins hearts over time. My journey hasn’t been easy; I came from a puppy mill in the Midwest and found my way to a local Florida shelter. Although my first family loved me, they recognized that I need more specialized care and understanding than they could offer. That’s why I’m here, hoping to find my forever home. Having another friendly dog around is crucial for me—my confidence blooms with a buddy by my side. While the world can sometimes feel overwhelming, I’m learning that it’s a better place with calm, patient humans and confident canines guiding me. I’d thrive in a securely fenced yard where I can feel safe while getting the exercise I need. Right now, I’m still figuring out potty training and leash-walking, so puppy pads are my backup. I form bonds with my people given time. I tend to trust women pretty easily, though I take longer to warm up to men. I need someone who is soft-spoken and patient, allowing me to come around at my own pace. Older, dog-savvy kids may be alright, as long as they know how to approach gently. I haven’t met any cats yet to know how I’d react. My ideal human is experienced in helping shy dogs like me feel safe and loved, someone who understands that progress comes quietly, often in small victories.
