About Leyla & Dexter
Meet Leyla & Dexter, a bonded senior pair of 10-year-old Cocker Spaniels searching for their next chapter together in Cape Coral, FL. Surrendered to a Florida shelter through no fault of their own, they're hoping for a home that values both their distinct personalities. Dexter is the outgoing one—a lively spirit who greets each morning with enthusiasm and sees socks as treasures to be claimed. Leyla, on the other hand, is reserved and appreciates a gentle, thoughtful approach. She sets clear boundaries but warms up to those who respect them, especially if there’s an ear scratch involved. Both Leyla and Dexter are highly food-motivated and currently on the rounder side, so daily walks and measured treats will go a long way. They walk nicely on leash after a short adjustment and reliably sleep through the night. Housebreaking has gone well, with only a few minor accidents during their first days. They have no problem being left alone for reasonable stretches and do best with adults or kids aged 13 and up who understand dog signals. They get along with other dogs, but their feelings about cats are a blank slate. Adopt both for twice the love and companionship—they truly are a package deal.
