Lorabelle is a lovely 2-year-old Patterdale/Wirehaired Terrier mix weighing about 35 lbs. This resilient girl has overcome a tough start in life and now seeks a forever home dedicated to her needs. She was rescued as a puppy, found tethered outside with minimal care. After thriving in foster care, she was adopted, but sadly, she returned to the rescue after an incident involving a small dog. Lorabelle has a strong prey drive and must not live with small animals. This requirement is critical for her safety and the safety of others. While she could potentially coexist with a compatible, submissive dog, a house with multiple pets might overstimulate her. Thoughtful introductions and supervision will be essential, as well as an experienced adopter who understands dog behavior. Lorabelle is high-energy and has plenty of puppy spirit left in her. She needs an active family that enjoys outdoor activities and can provide the mental and physical engagement she craves. A securely fenced yard is necessary for her playtime. Lorabelle is affectionate and eager to be loved, but continued training is essential. She can be jumpy and excitable, so she is not suitable for homes with small children. However, older dog-savvy kids may be a good fit to help her release some energy. This smart girl is ready to learn and flourish with consistency and positive reinforcement. One important note: Lorabelle has tested lightly heartworm positive and has begun slow-kill treatment. She will be retested in six months to track her recovery.
