Meet Dopey! Dopey is an approximately 7-year-old Beagle/Basset mix weighing 32 pounds. He’s a sweet older guy who needs some time to feel comfortable and let his personality shine. Arriving with a group of fellow Beagle/Basset mixes, he sadly appears to have been dumped, as none were reclaimed. This shy, somewhat unsure pup is still learning to trust people. But as he begins to come out of his shell, his sweetness becomes evident. Dopey needs a patient family ready to give him the time to decompress and adjust. He’s not experienced with leash walking, so he’ll appreciate a gentle guide to help him learn. Dopey could thrive with another dog around, as a confident canine companion would help him feel more secure. While he might not be the type to immediately rush up to greet you, you’ll find that building a friendship with him can be especially rewarding. All this lovely boy needs is someone willing to give him that chance. Because most of our dogs come to us as strays, we cannot guarantee that they are house-trained.
