About Marie in GA

Meet Marie, a charming example of the Great Pyrenees breed, but in a smaller, more manageable "Pocket Pyr" size. Rescued from a tough situation in Alabama, her early experiences have made her timid around people. Gaining her trust requires patience: approach slowly, bend down, and speak softly. Once she feels secure, she truly enjoys affection and seeks connection. While she's not quite ready for formal training, Marie understands commands like "go outside," "go potty," and "come." She’s low-energy and prefers indoor comfort, doesn't bark, and isn't inclined to dig, but a secure 5-foot fenced yard would be her dream, especially if it includes a dog friend. Marie gets along well with cats and currently shares her foster home with two dogs—a small Shih Tzu and a much larger male Great Pyrenees. She thrives alongside her dog companions and prefers to have a male Pyr buddy in her next home. Car rides are a favorite, and she enjoys the attention of gentle brushing, taking treats like bacon and cheese in her stride. One of her quirks is that she insists on eating only from her bed, avoiding the bowl entirely. Her ideal home would be with adults experienced in handling easily spooked dogs, who can provide the patience she needs as she continues to adjust. Marie is making strides every day, showing that she is ready to love despite her reservations. Her foster mom affectionately calls her Marie Laveau, inspired by a magical figure from New Orleans, believing that with the right family, this special girl will truly shine.
