Meet Olga. Some dogs carry their stories visibly, and Olga is one of them. At around 8 years old, this beautiful Cane Corso has faced challenges that few can imagine. When brought to our care, her feet were scalded from hot pavement, making each step painful. Her face, legs, and chest bear scars that tell of years spent in distress, and she once suffered from a severe cherry eye, which we were able to correct. Despite her past, Olga shows no aggression towards our staff or other dogs. Naturally reserved, she doesn’t easily trust new faces. When meeting someone for the first time, she might express her uncertainty with a deep bark and a watchful gaze. This behavior isn't about conflict; it’s her way of protecting herself. However, if you're patient and earn her trust, you’ll find the sweetest soul. Olga will melt into the ground for belly rubs and instinctively lowers her body for gentle touches, a reminder of her difficult past. Observing her gradual realization of kindness has been a privilege. At the shelter, Olga has buddyed up with Haley, and our rambunctious puppies, Spud and Baked Bean, showing she can coexist peacefully with other respectful dogs. Given her unique needs, we seek an approved home for her. A calm environment with an experienced owner or a single person would be ideal, along with a respectful canine companion.
