Meet Trixie! At just 5 months old and 32 pounds, Trixie has already endured more than most puppies. This lovely German Shepherd mix was found as a stray in Louisiana and brought to a shelter, where she finally felt safe. However, that safety was threatened when the shelter abruptly closed, prompting dedicated staff and volunteers to find homes for all the animals before time ran out. Thanks to the Bissell Pet Foundation, Furever Tails Animal Rescue could step in and give Trixie the second chance she deserves. Now, this sweet girl is eager to find a loving family to call her own. Despite her rocky start, Trixie embodies the joyful spirit of a puppy. She’s sweet, social, and playful, though a bit hesitant around unfamiliar faces. With love and patience, her affectionate nature shines through those big, soulful eyes. As a growing German Shepherd, Trixie has adorable oversized ears and long legs that she’s still learning to navigate. She’s both dog and cat friendly, making her a great choice for families, especially those with respectful children who understand puppy behavior. While Trixie is making progress with her house training, expect a few mishaps as she settles in. She’s working on crate training and will benefit from continued leash training, as she’s just discovering how fun walks can be. German Shepherds are known for their intelligence and loyalty, making them excellent companions for families willing to dedicate time to training and exercise. Trixie is in the perfect spot to build her confidence and turn into an incredible lifelong friend.
