**Meet Socrates!** Socrates is an approximately 6-year-old neutered orange and white Domestic Shorthair with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Rescued from Detroit, he was initially labeled as a "feral" cat, but it quickly became clear that a friendly, loving companion was hiding beneath that tough exterior. When he came to us, Socrates battled a severe upper respiratory infection and advanced dental disease that caused him discomfort. Following a full dental procedure that left him toothless but happier, he’s now thriving. Adjusting to indoor life took some time for Socrates, leading to overgrooming due to stress. With a safe haven, he has blossomed into a confident, relaxed companion. While you may still see some thinning spots in his coat, he's no longer overgrooming and is in a good place. Socrates adores people and especially enjoys the company of children. He gets along with other cats, making him an excellent choice for a multi-pet household. However, he is not fond of dogs and prefers a dog-free environment to feel safe. Socrates has left his challenging days behind and is eager for a forever family who can provide him with cozy beds, delicious meals, and all the love he deserves. If you're looking for a resilient companion with character, Socrates is ready to make himself right at home. He has received all age-appropriate vaccinations, has been dewormed, microchipped, and is consistently on flea/tick/heartworm prevention.
