Lanni is a young, energetic Shiba Inu male who found his way to the rescue from a Philly shelter after being a stray. Weighing in at 35 lbs and fully neutered, he’s about a year old and brings a playful spirit to every moment. Lanni loves to cuddle, whether on the couch or snuggling in bed. His friendly demeanor makes him suitable for homes with children, dogs, and even cats. Currently in a household with five cats, he coexists well, although he sometimes can’t resist the urge to chase them. Lanni is easy-going with other dogs, especially smaller ones, but does feel a bit intimidated by larger dogs. It’s essential that playmates can match his high energy and enthusiastic play style. For optimal happiness, Lanni needs a home with a fully fenced-in yard, at least 4 feet high. He enjoys watching the world go by and loves a good game of fetch. However, he thrives on daily walks to explore his surroundings. Lanni does have a high prey drive, so off-leash time isn’t an option in unfenced areas. While he does experience separation anxiety and isn’t the best at being left alone, his ideal home would cater to his needs—perhaps with a human who works from home or another easy-going dog as a companion. Lanni has shown some resource guarding behaviors, so any resident pups need to be a good match. Lanni responds well to food motivation and is learning various commands, including sit and touch. He can hold his potty well, which is typical for a Shiba. Though he might be nervous during car rides, with proper encouragement, he can learn to enjoy them.
