Dude is ready for adoption here at Shiba Rescue of New Jersey. Dude was a mill dog from the Amish. He was afraid of EVERYTHING. He was afraid of so many noises, trees, the wind, any fast movements, walking on the leash, and birds flying overhead. He is doing better since he arrived in our Rescue thanks to foster Mom Jackie Stark. Jackie has the patience of a saint and has continuously worked with Dude to try and overcome his fears. Dude has made so many milestones for a mill dog. That's always incredible to see. Dude is estimated to be between 8-9 years old. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative and had a dental. Here is what Foster Mom Jackie has to say about Dude: With a lot of work Dude has come around. Once he gets to know you, he will sit on your lap. Dude likes to be brushed and likes going for walks on a leash. If while walking, he gets afraid of something, he will lay down till you assure him he is okay. He does well in the car with a dog seatbelt. He likely will find himself a safe hiding place till he is comfortable in his new home. He sleeps on a dog bed and is not crated. He may decide to lay under a table. Dude may do well with another older and friendly dog who has lived with a dog before. Dude can hold himself for 7 hours during the day and 10 hours at night. Dude is a good boy and should go to a quiet home with no young children. He does like to run in my small exercise dog yard. He has no aggression. Dude is housebroken and not destructive.
