Peeva is a large male Shiba Inu, around 2 or 3 years old, who has had some ups and downs early in life. After being picked up as a stray and briefly adopted, he was returned when a sudden movement startled him and he nipped—no broken skin, just anxiety. Like many Shibas, Peeva is slow to trust, but steady with routine and patience. He’s house trained, walks nicely on a leash, and does his business best on walks, though he likes access to a yard. Peeva hovers over his food dish, but he’s happy to bring treats and toys over for someone to hold while he chews. This is not a dog for a first-timer—Peeva needs a Shiba-savvy, experienced owner in an adult-only home, without other dogs. He’s not a good fit for households with cats.
