About Scout
Meet Scout, a 3.5-year-old, 13-pound neutered male Shih Tzu who found his way into rescue when his previous family could not take him along during their move. Right off the bat, you’ll notice he strikes a fantastic balance between being playful and laid-back. Scout enjoys his daily walks, occasionally bursts into zoomies, and loves to toss around a small plush toy. Most of all, he cherishes those quiet moments spent lounging next to you, whether you’re working or just relaxing at home. Scout is a gentle and affectionate companion who forms strong bonds with his family, thriving on involvement in everyday life. While he does adapt well to his foster home and behaves nicely around visitors, new places can make him a bit anxious. Scout will need a loving family who can offer time, patience, and a reassuring presence as he settles in. He does well with children who know how to interact kindly with small dogs and is generally content to observe from a cozy spot nearby. While Scout enjoys the company of other small dogs, larger dogs can make him uneasy, especially if they approach his favorite person. Ideally, he would be happiest as the only dog or with a calm small dog. Scout is not house trained yet, so he requires regular outdoor breaks every 4-6 hours. He sleeps well in his own bed or at the foot of your bed and does wonderfully in the car, often snoozing through trips. He reliably responds to calls and is a delightful addition to the home. Scout is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and looking for a loving family that will include him in daily activities, provide walks, light playtime, and plenty of cuddles. The adoption fee is $457.91, which includes sales tax. Scout is waiting for a family within 50 miles of Coon Rapids, MN, who will attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion each September.
