This gentle giant, whose name means "dog" in Russian, needs a family ready to support her as she learns their routine and settles in. Ideally, she would do best in a home with a fenced yard where she can safely play and explore. Baka has a heart as big as her size, and while she may act like a puppy, she brings so much joy and love into the lives of those around her. She adores lounging on the couch, her giant head nestled in a lap, and enjoys her outdoor playtime with sticks. Known for her smarts, Baka has figured out how to open lever-style door handles at her foster home, which adds a playful twist to her charming personality. Having come from a difficult background, she has made tremendous strides in her foster care, developing trust in people and learning to follow a routine. Baka takes daily anxiety medication that has significantly improved her quality of life, and this will need to continue after adoption. While she’s getting better at being alone, she is still learning to see her crate as a safe space. Baka gets along well with other dogs, but a home where she’s the only pet might be best to help her build confidence. Given her size and playful energy, a home without small children or cats will be essential.
