About Westside Basil

Westside Basil Here. I may have left the west side, but the west side hasn't completely left me. Nobody knows much about my life before rescue, but I've got a feeling I learned early that if you wanted something, you had to speak up for yourself. A guy doesnt become this scrappy by accident. These days, though, I'm working on a new chapter. One with fewer survival skills and more naps. Speaking of naps, I'm exceptionally talented at them. Couch naps. Bed naps. Afternoon naps. Post-breakfast naps. Pre-dinner naps. If you're looking for a hiking partner, keep scrolling. If you're looking for a professional snuggler with low-to-moderate energy, we should talk. Im about 1 year old and 15 pounds of confidence, charm, and good looks packed into one compact package. My short coat is easy to care for and sheds very little when kept brushed and groomed. I'm more wash-and-wear than high-maintenance. I'm house trained, ride nicely in the car, and while I can be crated when needed, I'd much rather be hanging out with my people. And speaking of people... I LOVE them. Men. Women. Kids. Grandparents. Visitors. Neighbors. The cashier at the drive-thru. If you're human, there's a good chance I'm interested in being your friend. A good West Side gentleman takes care of his people, and that's a responsibility I take seriously. Now about dogs. Honestly, I'd mostly prefer they mind their business and let me mind mine. I don't spend my days looking for trouble. In fact, I usually ignore other dogs completely. What I enjoy most is peaceful coexistence. You do your thing, I'll do mine, and everybody wins. What I've learned about myself is that I don't enjoy dogs crowding my space or repeatedly ignoring my boundaries. If another dog keeps pushing the issue, I'm not afraid to stand up for myself. Because of that, my ideal home would probably be one where I can be the center of attention. I think I'd absolutely thrive as an only dog. Could I live with another calm, respectful dog who doesn't need me to be their best friend? Maybe. But if you're looking for a dog park enthusiast or a canine social butterfly, that's just not me. I'm more of a people person. One other thing about me: I have a classic squishy face, which means I can be a bit of a noisy breather and an impressive snorer. Because of that, I need a family that understands brachycephalic dogs and their special needs. I do best with air conditioning, shorter walks during cooler parts of the day, and a lifestyle that doesn't involve marathon hikes or endless games of fetch in the summer heat. What I really want is simple: A soft couch. A family to love. A place where I can finally relax and let somebody else handle security. Love, Westside Basil ----------------------- The adoption donation for Westside Basil is $250. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention (age appropriate). If you would like to meet this dog, you must have an approved application on file and be willing to travel to the Youngstown/Mahoning County, Ohio area for a meet and greet. All of our dogs reside in foster homes. We do not have a physical shelter. Applications will be reviewed/approved and each dog will be placed in the home that can best meet their individual need. If you live in a residence with a Homeowners Association (HOA) please make sure you check that the dog you are interested in does not violate size or breed restrictions. A successful adoption is our goal. Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption of any dog. We require you call your established veterinarian asap to schedule a wellness visit. ---------------------- Our applications can be found by clicking on the adoption application link at https://apaprescue.com Our primary form of communication is email.
