About Chico
Chico is nearly six years old and clocks in at about 115 lbs. He’s a tricolor Bernese Mountain Dog who is all about people—he thrives on attention, belly rubs, and being wherever you are. He’s never picky with treats and loves stuffed toys, but what really makes him happy is being part of the action, smiling and barking when he’s excited. Chico’s temperament is very fun-loving, easy-going, and sweet. He listens well and is genuinely a happy soul. His energy fits a low to moderate level, pretty standard for his age, so he’s as content lounging on the carpet (he needs it for his comfort and mobility) as he is hanging out with the family. Chico is housetrained and will bark at the door when he needs to go outside, though he’ll skip the outing if he doesn’t really have to go. He has lived harmoniously with other dogs, a cat, and children of various ages—he gets along with everyone. He’s never needed a crate and has no real behavioral challenges; he once bared his teeth at a wild bunny, but otherwise has shown nothing but great manners. Medically, Chico’s ears need regular cleaning, and he’s on daily medication for paw chewing plus monthly preventatives. After two orthopedic surgeries, he gets glucosamine supplements, and hard floors make him uneasy—he really needs a carpeted home. This big-hearted boy has won over everyone he’s met and is ready for a family to love him as much as he’ll love them. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
