One puppy and the Mom we took already had both been injured from bring hit by cars. The dogs ate food from the ground where it was thrown if they had any that day, and drank most water from rain puddles often muddy. Poor Surf and her brother Wave almost did not get out of this situation. They were wanted to be kept by the family. They would have had a miserable life destined to not be cared for properly and to be fully infested with never enough food or clean water. It was fortunate for them that the two adults and the home went to jail that gave us the opportunity with approval from authorities to take these two puppies as well.
